Our highly qualified team of attorneys is led by our directors whom combined hold more than 75 years of experience in the legal industry.


The team of directors below is supported by approximately 30 professionals, boasting a Doctorate, eight Masters degrees, and 11 post-graduate diplomas and certificates, across various fields of law.

Founding director: Peter Tshisevhe

Peter was admitted as an attorney in 1998 and has held senior director positions at some of South Africa’s largest legal firms. With a legal career that has spanned over 20 years, he was also a part time commercial lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand for a number of years. With a combination of extensive legal experience and expertise as a well as a need to create a uniquely competitive black law firm, Peter co-founded TGR Attorneys.

Founding director: Matodzi Ratshimbilani.

Matodzi was admitted as an attorney in 1999. Matodzi founded and was the managing partner of MNMR Attorneys before joining one of South Africa’s largest law firms as a director in the corporate commercial team with a specific focus on mining related mergers and acquisitions. He later left to co-establish TGR Attorneys. He currently heads up the Corporate Commercial department and is a member of the Management Committee.

Director: Bibi Smit

Bibi is an experienced attorney, conveyancer and notary public with over 17 years experience as a conveyancer. She has completed numerous courses over the years and is most proud of completing the Significant Leadership Programme for Experienced Women Lawyers as well as the Compliance Management course with UCT recently.

Director: Phologo Pheko

Phologo was admitted as an attorney in 2006. He is in the Banking and Finance department and focuses on Infrastructure, Corporate and Project Finance. Phologo has particular expertise in public-private partnerships, public procurement, and Black Economic Empowerment, he counsels on limited recourse finance, debt capital markets, and infrastructure finance in the energy, road, transport, mining and telecommunications sectors.
