Our highly qualified team of attorneys is led by our directors whom combined hold more than 75 years of experience in the legal industry.


The team of directors below is supported by approximately 30 professionals, boasting a Doctorate, eight Masters degrees, and 11 post-graduate diplomas and certificates, across various fields of law.

Founding director: Peter Tshisevhe

Peter was admitted as an attorney in 1998 and has held senior director positions at some of South Africa’s largest legal firms. With a legal career that has spanned over 20 years, he was also a part time commercial lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand for a number of years. With a combination of extensive legal experience and expertise as a well as a need to create a uniquely competitive black law firm, Peter co-founded TGR Attorneys.

Founding director: Matodzi Ratshimbilani.

Matodzi was admitted as an attorney in 1999. Matodzi founded and was the managing partner of MNMR Attorneys before joining one of South Africa’s largest law firms as a director in the corporate commercial team with a specific focus on mining related mergers and acquisitions. He later left to co-establish TGR Attorneys. He currently heads up the Corporate Commercial department and is a member of the Management Committee.

Director in Litigation: Kase Mahlaku

Kase is from  the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa Limited  (IDC) where he was senior legal advisor within the Litigation team. Kase completed his articles at Deneys Reitz Attorneys and later joined  Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys as a  senior associate in the litigation & dispute resolution department. He has worked at Standard Bank in specialised matters, credit rehabilitation & recoveries. Kase completed his LLB at Wits University.

Executive Consultant : Banking and Finance: Eduan Kapp

Eduan is a highly experienced Banking and Finance advisory consultant. He has spent more than two decades negotiating transactions and the introduction of new entities into various African jurisdictions and the pursuant transactional close. His focus is on strategic, commercial and legal advice in respect of mergers and acquisitions and, in respect of finance law capacity, both debt and equity. He has advised clients including commercial banks, investment banks, corporates and finance and Private Equity companies. He has been involved whether in an origination, advisory, structuring or exit role – in more than 140 major transactions in emerging markets; with an aggregate deal size of approximately US$ 39billion across 29 countries in Africa (including South Africa) covering all major sectors. He has strong transactional experience, having advised on all types of debt and equity structuring, as well as debt restructuring and/or financial recovery programmes, including workouts involving banking consortia with and without the use of an SPV structure. His experience also includes dealing with the efficacy and enforceability of specific security arrangements.
